RIT Tools for Firefighter Suicide Prevention

Firefighters look out for one another—that’s a central value all firefighters share. When operating under dangerous conditions, extra efforts are required to ensure that those in harm’s way are covered by coworkers trained, equipped, and able to intervene if something turns bad. RIT coverage—a rapid intervention team staged and equipped to take immediate action in the event of a MAYDAY—is an essential element of modern safety practices.

The RIT concept only works if personnel with RIT duties are ready and equipped to do what needs to be done as soon as the need arises. Tools for forced entry, search and rescue, extrication, and the like—along with the training needed to use them on demand—are essential parts of RIT readiness.

This app is designed to help you rapidly intervene with a coworker at risk for suicide.
